THE START
BEGINNINGS
Rhucello was born from a stag party in Amsterdam in February 2014. What started as a drunken joke has since grown into today’s wildly successful phenomenon.
During the trip, we toured a Dutch liqueur distillery boasting 38 flavours—from chocolate to watermelon. But for the Wakefield contingent, one glaring omission stood out: “What, no rhubarb?” And so the idea of Rhucello was planted.
That spring, we created the first bottle: a rough mix of rhubarb, sugar, and cheap vodka, unveiled during a weekend in Ayr, Scotland. Since then, Rhucello has gone through countless tastings and a full brand revamp to become the polished drink you see today.
A huge thanks to everyone who’s helped along the way.

THE WHERE
THE RHUBARB TRIANGLE
We’d love to say Rhucello was born on a grand country estate with rolling hills and endless sunshine… but truth be told, it’s made in a humble suburban house in Wakefield. Luckily, that house sits right in the middle of the world-famous Rhubarb Triangle.
Our rhubarb comes fresh from the farm down the road, sometimes we see it being picked as we pull up the drive. We like to use it the very same day, so every drop of Rhucello is as fresh as it gets.
The Rhubarb Triangle may only be nine square miles, but it’s legendary: once producing 90% of the world’s winter rhubarb, and now proudly protected with PDO status. Not bad for a little patch of Yorkshire.
